Trialmaster Legend Jacket Man
Will Smith chooses Belstaff for his latest, keenly-anticipated blockbuster
"My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. I'm broadcasting on all AM frequencies. If you're out there, if anyone is out there. Please. You're not alone".
With these now-famous, bleak words, Will Smith opens I Am Legend, Warner Bros' blockbuster film directed by Francis Lawrence, scheduled for release in December.
The story of a scientist who is the only survivor of a mysterious virus that has infected the human race was first made famous by Richard Matheson's cult novel of the same title, now widely considered a classic of modern literature, not just of the science fiction genre.
Belstaff created the total look for Will Smith's character.
In particular the Trial Master Legend Jacket, a futuristic evolution of the legendary jacket Steve McQueen wore 40 years ago. This jacket, which the star wears throughout the film, is an integral part of his image as a lone hero driven by his courage and his indomitable hope for the future of humanity. These characteristics are strikingly similar to those of the heroes who starred in Belstaff brand's recent collections.
In the film, Robert Neville tries to contact other survivors while his life descends into a claustrophobic
manhunt as the mutant victims of the plague lie in wait for him in the shadows.
His only hope is to find a way of reversing the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. He knows he is outnumbered and that time is running out.
Like the heroes of Belstaff's collections, Will Smith moves in a futuristic setting on a planet changed beyond recognition, driven by a mission that must not fail.
